Welcome!
We’re excited to have you sign up for our summer programs at Sackawa Canoe Club. Winter can feel long, so give your athletes something exciting to look forward to - a summer spent on the water, building skills, confidence, and friendships.

Our dedicated coaches and athletes are already looking forward to welcoming both new and returning families for another fantastic season at the club.

​

Before registering, please take a moment to review the available programs and read through the instructions for using the RAMPS registration system.

Summer Programs

​

​Sackawa’s Summer Program is a vibrant, welcoming, and adventure‑filled experience designed to introduce youth to the world of sprint canoe and kayak while building confidence, friendships, and lifelong memories. 

​

Our program blends high‑quality coaching with a fun, supportive atmosphere where every athlete from first‑time paddlers to returning racers can learn technique, grow in confidence as an athlete, and thrive in sport.

​

Participants spend their days on beautiful First Lake developing paddling skills, exploring the outdoors, and staying active through a mix of on‑water sessions, team games, and land‑based activities. Our experienced coaching staff focuses on safety, technical skill development, and positive team culture, ensuring each paddler feels included, encouraged, and excited to come back each day!

Whether your child is looking to try a new sport, build athletic foundations, or take their paddling to the next level, Sackawa offers an environment where they can challenge themselves, make new friends, and discover the joy of being part of a community‑driven club sport!

Sackawa’s summer program is more than a camp; It’s a place where kids grow as athletes and as people. We can’t wait to welcome your family to the water this summer!

Programs run from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend regattas!

For added flexibility, you can also register for our Early Drop-Off & Late Pickup option. With this, drop-off starts at 7:30 AM, and our late pickup extends until 5:30 PM.

U10-U16 Full Summer Paddling Program

If you’re looking for a summer that keeps your child active, outdoors, and engaged, our full‑summer paddling program is a fantastic choice! Designed for kids aged 8–15, this program welcomes everyone. Whether they’ve never held a paddle before or already love being on the water.

Our coaching team creates a fun, safe, and encouraging environment where athletes can learn at their own pace. No experience is required. Just bring a positive attitude and a willingness to try something new!

​

Throughout the summer, athletes will build confidence on the water, learn the basics of canoe and kayak, and enjoy a mix of games, challenges, and outdoor adventures. They’ll try different types of boats, make new friends, and even have the chance to participate in beginner‑friendly regattas.

$1,350.00 + $100 (Fundraising Fee)

Registrant must be at least age 9 on December 31, 2026

​

Program starts June 29th and ends August 21st

Note: There is no programming on July 1st (Canada Day) or August 3rd (Natal Day)

​

Registration fee includes all equipment (except lifejackets). Participants, along with their parents or guardians, become members of Sackawa Canoe Club for the year of registration. 

Fundraising fee can be recouped by selling your SportSweep tickets, which will be handed out during the 1st week of camp.

Intro to Paddling Two Week Day Camp

(Ages 8 and Up)

Introducing Intro to Sprint, our hybrid camp program that is designed to offer a smooth transition for children (ages 8 -15) who are interested in exploring the world of competitive paddling while enjoying the leisurely aspects of Canoe Camp. 

​

Intro to Sprint combines the fun and excitement of our recreational Canoe Camp with the competitive edge of our Sprint program. Whether your child is a beginner or has some experience in paddling, our well-trained coaches will provide them with a comprehensive physical activity program that involves paddling, balance drills, and games and activities in a positive and fun environment.

​

Intro to Sprint offers instruction in the fundamentals of sprint canoe and kayak for both beginners and experienced paddlers. Children will have opportunities to use and compete in a variety of team and individual boats and will be introduced to aerobic and speed training on and off the water.

​

This program is only offered the first 4 weeks of summer and consists of two weeks of full-day sprint canoe and kayak coaching, including morning meet and greet, warm-up with dry land activities, group games, on-water sessions, beach activities, swimming, and time in fun boats (non-racing boats). We also have designated lunch times, which are supervised by our coaches, and theme weeks with costume day on Wednesdays and the opportunity to compete in interclub regattas in the HRM area.

The cost of Intro is $695 per 10-day session (Mon to Fri) and $625 per 9-day session, including all fees and taxes. Campers will be provided with a Sackawa Camp shirt on their first week of camp.

​

This program is intended to be a try out Sprint Paddling, with the option to convert to our full summer program (program cost credited to full summer registration).

​

One Week Day Adventure Camp

(Ages 6 - 10)

​Our one-week adventure camp is designed for children aged 6 to 10 who love to be active and adventurous outdoors. With an emphasis on team building, water safety, healthy living and introduction of small and big boats, our camp offers a unique and exciting way to spend the summer.

​

Located at the picturesque First Lake in the heart of Lower Sackville, our campers will have access to the stunning lake and the trails around first lake. Our program offers nine one-week sessions from June 29 to August 28, 2026.

​

At our camp, children will have the opportunity to explore different types of canoes and kayaks suitable for all ages and skill levels. Our experienced coaches will guide them through the basics of paddling, and campers will be able to improve their technique and try out new skills as they progress through the week.

​

Set along the shore of First Lake, children will explore the trials, learn how to identify different plants, and basic survival skills. Our program also includes a range of other fun and engaging activities, such as games, crafts, and nature exploration. Each week has its own unique theme, so there is always something new and exciting to look forward to.

​

The cost of camp is $235 per 5-day week (Mon to Fri) and $190 per 4-day week, including all fees and taxes. Campers will be provided with a Sackawa Camp shirt on their first week of camp.

We welcome campers of all levels of experience, and our program is designed to be inclusive and fun for everyone. Join us for an unforgettable summer of adventure and exploration on the water!

Paddle Ability/PaddleAll

This program is aimed at introducing athletes with physical or intellectual disabilities to the sport of Canoe-Kayak. Formerly known as PaddleALL, it has programs for all ages and skill levels. No experience is necessary. Come out and enjoy the freedom of being on the water. Usually runs on Tuesday, Thursday at 6pm and Sunday afternoon. But days and times will be firmed up closer to the summer.

(3 days per week for 1.5 hours)

$250

Early-DropOff / Late Pickup​​​​

Regular camp hours are 9am-4pm, if you require extended hours, Sackawa offers supervision from 7:30am-9am and from 4-5:30pm

Cost is only $5/day, so $25/week, and $200 for full summer

​

You must be registered in this program to take advantage of this offering. If you only require a few days of extra supervision, there might be space available, but this must be confirmed and paid for on a case by case bases. Cost for this will be higher at $10 per use.

Leaders in Training

Welcome to our Leaders-in-Training (LIT) program at Canoe and Kayak Camp! This program is designed for teens aged 15-17 who are interested in gaining valuable skills and experience working with children in a camp setting.

​

This program will run Monday to Friday from 8:30 am -4:30 pm (excluding holidays) for 2 weeks. The Leaders in Training (LIT) is an awesome opportunity for teens hoping to work as camp counselors, coaches or with children in the future. Sackawa Adventure Day Camp is a fun, and active camp full of games, crafts, and on-water activities.

​

The LIT program teaches teens how to work with children in a camp setting while having the support and supervision of experienced camp staff. Our program is designed to empower teenagers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to become effective leaders both on and off the water. 

 

Upon successful completion of the program, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. We are happy to provide reference letters for future employment or volunteer positions upon request to successful participants.

Registration costs $100.00. This will include an LIT T-Shirt.

How to use the RAMPS registration system

  • When you click on the registration button above you will need to create an account using your email address and set your password.

  • You will be emailed a confirmation code. If you don't receive the code right away check your spam folder.

  • Click the Participant button

  • In the second dropdown menu Choose Account Member to Register as a Participant select Add an Account Member

  • Fill in the details for your participant

  • Click the drop down for Choose a Category and Age Group. Note: If you are registering for a two-week day camp you will need to select Recreational Youth Member. 

  • On the next page you will need to consent to the CKC image waiver, sign the form on the screen and click the checkbox next to I am the Age of Majority or am a Parent/Guardian to the Registrant and Agree to the Terms and Conditions Above

  • On the next screen set two people for Parent/Guardian/Emerg. Contact Information.

  • Fill out the two Canoe Kayak Canada Member questions on the next page.

  • Confirm Your registration details on the next page, select your payment method and submit your registration.​
